Marcelo Hidalgo
Product Integrity Manager, Pacifical
Marcelo Hidalgo is the Product Integrity Manager at Pacifical c.v . He has over 14 years experience in the tuna industry worldwide. He started his career in the tuna industry in 1998 as a Quality Manager of a long line and fresh & frozen tuna facility in Ecuador and has worked in different areas related to the quality, food safety and sustainable management of the tuna products in the main tuna producers’ countries. As a trained auditor, Marcelo has carried out traceability and processing audits globally, as well as SA8000 social criteria.
In 2011, the PNA (Parties to the Nauru Agreement) appointed Marcelo as Coordinator of the PNA MSC chain of custody implementation, being responsible for overseeing training programs, documentation management and performance with fishing companies, carriers’ companies, processors and observers’ program that belong to the PNA MSC CoC scheme.
Marcelo holds a Bachelor degree in Aquaculture and a post graduate diploma in International Trade, Business and Commerce at the Escuela Superior Politecnica del Litoral – Ecuador. He also studied a Master programme in Food Science for one year at the Ghent and Leuven Universities – Belgium.
