\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFrom an early age, Henk Brus was introduced to the tuna business as the son of a canned foods\u2019 importer. In 1987, after finishing his study in psychology, he started his career in the food trade sector. From 1992 to 1998, he was the vice-president of a leading multinational canned fish importer in the Netherlands.\n

\nIn 1998, he founded his own firm, Atuna\u2013 a global tuna trading company covering the complete vertical supply chain. That same year he also launched an internet blog, Atuna.com, which has since become the world\u2019s leading internet media company for tuna business news, and the organizer of many conferences. Since 2014, Henk is only involved in Atuna Media as a shareholder.\n

\nHenk has been a speaker and co-chair at many major tuna conferences over the last 35 years.\n

\nIn 2000, he was one of the co-founders of the World Tuna Purse Seiner Organization (WTPO).\n

\nIn early 2007, Henk founded a new company, Sustunable, seeking a \u201cResponsible Business Approach Towards Tuna Sourcing,\u201d and was the pioneer in the global marketing of FAD-free tuna. In 2010, Sustunable was approached by the 8 PNA nations to become their joint venture partner in the company Pacifical, to globally market PNA\u2019s sustainable and fully traceable MSC-certified free school skipjack and yellowfin tuna. Since then, he has been CEO of the company.\n

\nHe was also the initiator of World Tuna Day, which in 2016, the United Nations General Assembly voted to officially observe on May 2nd each year.
