Managing Director, Added Value Tuna Services SL (AVTS) & Atunes del Maresme SL (Tunamar)
Born in Belgium,1968 graduate from the University of Leuven and MBA from MIT Sloan school of management. Started working as a junior food and beverage manager for Marriott hotels chain, later joined UTC international in Miami as a seafood buyer based in Central America and the Caribbean sourcing mainly snapper , grouper and lobster species for export to USA.
I came back to Europe 12 years ago and after a brief passage at the Rungis fish market I joined the seafood trading division of August Topfer GmbH & Co ( ATCO) to focus mainly on frozen tuna and swordfish. In 2005 August Topfer started the building of a new –60 cold storage / processing plant in the harbor of Cadiz Spain and since 2006 I am the managing director of Added Value Tuna Services SL (AVTS) and Atunes del Maresme SL (Tunamar) focusing mainly on value added tuna products that we manufacture from super frozen longline and purse seine tuna that are sold defrosted or frozen throughout Europe whilst continuing the direct trading with ATCO of raw material for the processing industry.
